Lake Lizzie Ribbon Cutting & Inaugural Hike

Lake Lizzie Preserve, one of the newest sections of the Florida Trail that was added as a part of our efforts to close the Central Florida Gap. On Friday, January 25th, join the Florida Trail Coalition members in celebrating our new partnership with Osceola County. We will be holding a public ribbon cutting ceremony and hike, followed by a picnic lunch (**please be sure to bring your own lunch and camp chair).
Schedule of events:
10:30AM: Ribbon cutting ceremony and speakers from the Forest Service, FTA and Osceola County.
11:30AM: Join us for a guided 4 mile hike along the entirety of the Florida Trail in Lake Lizzie. A shuttle will be provided at the North trailhead for transportation back to the South trailhead.
*Florida Master Naturalist and Native Plant Society Member, Paul Rebmann, will be providing insight on the local flora and fauna along this hike
For a shorter hike, participants can round the Marsh Loop then return back to the South trailhead, for a total of 1.5 miles.
12:00PM: Picnic lunch at the South trailhead as participants complete their hikes.
3:00PM: Event end time
