Florida Panhandle

Pitcher plants at Garcon Point (Sandra Friend)Florida's Panhandle offers hiking experiences that range from rambles along the Gulf of Mexico, both through dense estauries fringed with pines and the sparkling sands of Santa Rosa Island, to clambers in and out of ravines where mountain laurel bloom each spring. Florida's high point is here, as are the highest points on the Florida Trail. Low boggy areas and seepage slopes host colorful wildflowers, including terrestrial orchids and pitcher plants.
