With the large number of surface streams, creeks, rivers, and wetlands in Florida, bridges are an essential part of the Florida Trail. They provide safe passage over waterways that look placid most days, but roar with massive flows of water after a heavy rain. They cross sluggish sloughs and creeks where alligators live and the water is generally too deep to safely cross. We showcase some of our larger bridges here to honor the volunteer effort that goes in to making your hiking experience a pleasant one. |
