What we do
Florida Trail volunteers provide more than $1 million dollars of in-kind labor on public lands in Florida each year. Our partnership with the USDA Forest Service and land management agencies throughout the state enables us to build infrastructure on Florida’s public lands and to assist in land acquisition projects. Preferred routing for the Florida Trail adds value to Florida Forever applications for local communities to apply for state funding to protect natural lands. Our outreach and education programs encourage Floridians and visitors alike to experience their public lands and to explore Florida Trail Gateway Communities along and near the Florida Trail while learning to appreciate and conserve Florida’s natural resources.

Benefits of joining the Florida Trail Association
Support the Florida Trail Association and hiking in Florida by becoming a member. If you have been referred by a Florida Trail member, please put that person's name in the box above "special instructions" at the final step of checkout. General membership is for individuals and families wanting to support the Florida Trail, to participate in local chapter activities, and to receive ongoing information about activities throughout Florida and places to hike via the Footprint, our quarterly magazine, and local chapter newsletters.
Our members receive many benefits, including automatic membership in a local chapter in your area, which holds its own meetings and activities and sends out a newsletter pertinent to what's going on in your area; a subscription to the Footprint magazine; free trail maintenance training workshops, including chainsaw certification; free participation in F-Troop, our team-building volunteer trail crews that tackle large projects like building bridges and boardwalks; a window decal and logo patch; opportunity to participate on decision-making committees covering major hiking issues; and voting privileges.
FTA's Member Code
I understand that I am entitled to all rights and privileges of a dues-paying member, and that only members may hike the Trail across private property. When on the Trail, I agree to: Protect wildlife; hike only marked routes; not carry firearms; leave gates as found; use crossings on fences when possible; where permitted, keep fires small, then drench and obliterate; carry out all refuse; report irregularities to property owners; pick up after those who have gone before; leave only footprints. I understand that hiking the Trail is a privilege and that I do so at my own risk. Neither the Association nor landowners are in any way liable for any injury or accident I might sustain while hiking the Florida Trail. (By selecting membership, I agree to the Member's Code).
