"Trails Don't Build Themselves."

It takes lots of time and energy to build and maintain more than 2,000 miles of hiking trails throughout the state of Florida as well as host conferences, lead meetings, work with local land managers and legislators, and introduce members of the general public to the great outdoors.  But as the photo of the Monkey Creek bridge project on the right shows, many hands make light work.

If you love working outdoors - help us keep the trails clear for the public to enjoy. We provide the training, the safety equipment, and most of the tools; you provide the time.

If you love being outdoors - become an Activity Leader for FTA and take others on hikes, kayak trips and bike rides around our beautiful state.

If you are a naturalist, bird watcher or just love Florida ecology - we need you for nature walks to prepare the next generation to care for our natural areas.

If you are an effective business leader - we need your help at the Chapter and State level to keep our organization fiscally sound and moving forward.

Examples of other ways you can help:

Camp cook for trail maintenance weekends and F-Troops
Prepare the Chapter newsletter
Trail Angel for Long Distance Hikers
Write articles for the state magazine - The Footprint
Give presentations at the Annual Conference
Host an FTA booth at community festivals
Write your elected representatives in support of our goals
Help run regional and state conferences
Paint trail blazes
Scout trail relocations
Use your GPS and camera to record and report trail changes
Take publicty photos to promote FTA and the Florida Trail
Speak to community groups about FTA and the Florida Trail
Welcome new members at Chapter meetings
Help maintain the Chapter websites

So if you have almost any skill or burning interest, The Florida Trail Association has a place for you to contribute in meaningful volunteer work.   Check the list below for the Chapter near you.  Attend a meeting, participate in an activity, make new friends, contribute your share,  give back to the Trail and GET INVOLVED.  You're gonna love it!
