Side By Side
Check out our chapter websites and Meetup groups for activities in your area.  Visit the Chapters page, scroll down to the bottom and look for your county.  Click on the chapter for a county to go to its web page.  Florida Trail Association activities include day hikes, backpacking trips, canoeing and kayaking, bicycling, picnics, and campouts.  Day hikes may focus on birding, plant identification, geocaching or historic sites.  Most activities are held locally, but some chapters travel to other parts of the state or out of state for extended trips.  However you like to enjoy the great outdoors, there's a Florida Trail activity for you!

The Safety Card Revised! PDF Print E-mail

Things change.  They grow, evolve, and improve.  The second version of the Florida Trail Safety Card is the latest example of this type of improvement.  The first version of the Florida Trail Safety Card took the nation by storm.  It was one of those ideas that when it comes out, everyone says, “Why hasn’t someone done this before?” The idea was simple.  Take the important safety gear information out of the USFS Health and Safety Code Handbook and put it on a waterproof, feather-light, easy to use pocket card.  After that all that was need was a format.

The first version was both critically acclaimed and criticized.  It did the job, but surely it could be better, right?  The answer is yes.  Using feedback from countless volunteers, agency personnel and FTA staff, the second version has now come to light.  The card is a valuable tool for all the members of the Florida Trail Association in their efforts to build and maintain the Florida Trail and the Florida Trail System.
