Florida Trail Association activities include day hikes, backpacking trips, canoeing and kayaking, bicycling, picnics, and campouts. Day hikes may focus on birding, plant identification, geocaching or historic sites. Most activities are held locally, but some chapters travel to other parts of the state or out of state for extended trips. However you like to enjoy the great outdoors, there's a Florida Trail activity for you!

Until lands are acquired to ensure a protected corridor around the western side of Lake Tohopekaliga (known locally as “Toho”), the orange blazes follow a series of roads around the eastern side of this enormous lake. Although you’ll walk along Canoe Creek Road for the full extent of the 22 miles, wildlife is abundant. Watch for flocks of sandhills cranes on the open fields of the cattle ranches and sod farms, osprey in the cypress domes, wild turkeys along the retention ponds, and deer near the canals.
The northern end of this section is at the junction of CR 523 and Old Canoe Creek Rd. The southern end is at the Willams Rd gate on CR 523 (Canoe Creek Rd) near Prairie Lakes (not shown on map).
