Bull Creek Trail Maintenance
Indian River Chapter

Scroll down to Register for this volunteer opportunity

The Florida Trail follows the west side of Bull Creek Wildlife Management Areaalong the old railroad grade. Ties and hardware remain along the route. Pines in the northeast corner of the property still have “catfaces” (areas on trees where iron gutters were attached to harvest the pitch). Additional trailside history includes a small cemetery in Bull Creek, flow wells, and the remains of a turpentine still and sawmill.  At the south end, the trail passes through Forever Florida, a working cattle ranch and private nature-oriented resort. Hikers have the opportunity of viewing sandhill cranes and wood storks along with cattle.

Come join our trail stewards to blaze, mow and cut back vegetation on the Florida Trail!

We will be maintaining approximately 15 miles of trail. Work will include mowing, lopping, brush cutting, blazing, and bridge repair. Hiking boots (description below) and long pants are required. Long-sleeve t-shirts are recommended.

This event is a free volunteer opportunity. Join our crew and have fun!
